Well, I heard almost a year ago that MPLAB "is being re-written in
Netbeans" to quote the Microchip representative. I suspect this is being
done to allow them to have a cross platform development system, rather
like the JMRI project is.

If Hitech are advertising for similar capability I suspect it will be
for a similar reason ... apart from them now being owned by Microchip.
It does rather sound as though the gcc based C30 and C32, and C18 may be
eventually sidelined once they get this off the ground.
