Note that whether you need a sync or an async serial port tends to be =20 dictated by external requirements (the protocol and device you expect =20 to speak to). It's not like you can say "It would be nice to go into =20 sleep mode while I'm waiting for data; I guess I'll look for a USART =20 rather than just a UART."
