Paint, oven cleaner, shampoo, cement powder..... You wouldn't stop cooking if you burned yourself on the frying pan once, 20 years ago =20 I have no problem using "dangerous" products like etchants and oxy-acetylene. If you've got common sense, most products are only potentially dangerous > There is simply NO gain by doing these yourself That depends where you are. AFAIK there is no local service here like AP Circuits. It would cost me hundreds of dollars to have any board made. There definitely is a gain to making your own board in an hour or two. By the time I've booted up Eagle or Altium, drawn the schematic, laid out the board, routed it, written the email to a board house, I could've probably etched my own and be soldering. I've done it so many times I can assure you it is worthwhile for one- offs that you want right now. Not so for repeat boards over a certain quantity of course. Then you get the pros to do it Joe * * ********** Quality PIC programmers http://www.embedinc.com/products/index.htm --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
