It may lead to real product a long while from now but is very very much research-ware at present. All new developments have potential value and possibly have niches to fill, but this is at first concept stage and far from market ready , and is extremely unlikely to challenge mainstream uses. I also find their claims suspect re efficacy in low and artificial light. Silicon crystalline PV has a reasonably linear output with ilumination level, so their claims of 2x + over other technologies at low level are "interesting". Also note that available energy levels are minuscule in most artificial lighting conditions. 1 sun = 100,000 lux . Room light conditions are usually in the 100-500 lux range or 0.1% - 0.5% of 1 sun. A top Si panel will produce 150 Watt/m^2 in one sun. At 500 lux that would be about 0.75 Watt/m^2 or 75 uWatt / cm^2. To get even 1 mW requires about a 3 x 5 cm panel. Half that IF efficiency is double which is very very very doubtful. At 100 lux (still very typical level) you get 20% of the above. LCD screen on full brightness AT screen surface is typically 300 lux.
