If you'd like to take a ferry, which is a great suggestion, I'd recommend
the Bremerton ferry rather than the Bainbridge Island.  Downtown Bremerton
has the recently opened Naval Museum and there are great views of the ships
at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as the ferry nears Bremerton.  I highly
recommend leaving the car and walking aboard if you just want to make a
round trip as the summer car rates are outrageous.
