The Pike Place Market at the north end of downtown is a must-see. It's a farmers market/craftfair/etc kind of place - infamous for the salmon throwing fish market. I always look at it as having something for all the senses. Plenty to see, street musicians to hear (some of whom are very good), the smell of hot cinnamon rolls... The original Starbucks is located at the Market and there are a number of hole-in-the-wall restaurants all around the Market which wonderful food. The park at the north end of the Market has a great view of the waterfront. If you go there, there is a parking garage on Western, the next street towards the water, that isn't too outrageous.
