Since the distance is 1/600 to 1/300 wavelength, its all near field and you
essentially have capacitive coupling between transmitter and receiver.  Your
coil could just as well be replaced by a sheet of aluminum foil.

Magnetic coupling may be more useful for what you are trying to do, so I
think it would be a good idea to hook up both ends of the coil and drive it
like a real coil.
