Hi All,

I have need for a burgler alarm that needs to have a range of 22 
miles (so I can monitor it myself).  We can use a monitored alarm, 
but the house is very secluded and without cell coverage-so an 
embedded cell phone does us no good. The thieves know that they can 
cut the phone line to defeat any alarm, because they know there is no 
cell coverage and the phone line is exposed on the exterior of the house.

I did find a vendor offering internet monitored security systems, and 
they do indicate when communication is lost with the modem-but the 
internet goes down so often for short periods of time. So, those who 
provide internet based security systems do not consider loss of 
signal to the modem as being a possible theft in progress.

I do have a ham license, so an HF transmitter might be an option.

I'd prefer something that would allow me to do my own monitoring-so I 
need ideas.

Suggestions or thoughts?
