GIMP + many cores + plus many layers + plus really big (talking
50-100Mpixel) makes things very interesting. I often run filters on
multiple images at once, letting the cores do their thing. Only have 4GB
on that particular machine and it's been limiting me.

IMHO serious work can easily hit the 2GB limit when doing that work,
video more so then photos, but still.
