I meant PIC32. If a PIC32 isn't good enough, an FPGA is maybe the way to 
go.
Anyway the OP was on Image Processing, which usually is more onerous 
than telecom Audio.

How long before Microchip "invent" a new family  with 230 members just 
to confuse me?
