Jason i had the same issue when i first started with the lcd's. My problem
was solved due to the oscillator. and capacitor. When i substitutedboth my
screen suddenly sprang to life. I SPENT HOURS SOLVING THIS. even purchased 2
new screens and they all did it.

Hello , I am trying to simply init a standard LCD text display with a
blinking cursor. Im not sure if its a error with my wiring or with my
programming so I have posted for piclist to judge whats the problem.

Problem: When I run it the LCD stays blank (backlight and everything else
turns on so its not a power issue) I've tried many diffrent code examples
and still got nothing ...


you would notice the difference on the LCD even without a pot on the
contrast (V0) right ?
