I am not a newbie (to electronics) either so I felt very stupid indeed. I 
would like to apologise wholeheartedly to Sean if what I said may have been 
taken as an attempt to make him look foolish. That was not my intention, 
although it would be a fantastic example of a gun that backfired on someone 
:-)
That aside, I feel IMHO that as you point out above, making mistakes is a 
great learning experience, so we should encourage them, not make people 
afraid of making them.
