Oh dear. Somehow what was meant to go to all admins went to list instead. More care needed. My grovelling apologies to several people :-(. Whatever. The point is, this sort of thing winds people up. It doesn't matter how funny or harmless the thick skinned and wacky humored* find it, it still causes problems. As has been directly demonstrated. I've had one offlist response already from somebody saying that they'd already apologised to someone else concerned because they said something without realising the effect etc. (Work out for yourselves who A and B are). The fact that they felt the need to apologise (offlist and without prompting) indicates that they considered they'd made an error of judgement. When it comes to people English as a second language it pays to think hard and act slow ** before being smart. (If you make jokes to/about me in Spansih / Portugese / Japanese / Lithuanian ... I'd probably misunderstand too). The annoying point is, it doesn't matter how many private apologies have been made - the waves are now rippling to & fro across the pond. They may die out, They may end up in another storm. I'd be very happy to keep my head down and concentrate on technical stuff. ... :-(. Russell. * I resemble that - alas some here don't and a bit of bending over backwards seems needed. ** Do what I say, not what I do ??????? -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
