> I know this is a kind of RTFM which was prohibited in this list recently for > some reason, but I hope we can make an exception. I know that comment has already been overtaken by events, but it's worth a reply. The SPIRIT of suggesting that someone read the available literature is not at all prohibited. What Jason needs, as I'm sure he has come to appreciate, is some high quality training input. Finding it, and being guided through the morass of surrounding material is something where provision of quality guidance is useful. What started out appearing to be an Ohm's law question was in fact only very vaguely related to Ohm's law, but more related to how power supplies and processors work together. What the rules suggest people keep for use amongst themselves is RTFM as an actual term. As already long and boringly explained, in 'the heat of battle' this actual term often serves to produce ill feeling and bad responses totally out of keeping and magnitude with the situation. Trying to avoid sudden promotion of flame-war type situations was the aim. Anytime you can suggest that a manual (or document etc) needs reading AND even better, propose a manual or group that relate AND even better, if possible perhaps give a beginner a guide as to what they want to look for and even better maybe even where it may be found IF the document is large and beginner-unfriendly, THEN the spirit of the original invocation is well served, while the inflammatory bits have been excised. Summary: Genuine guidance aimed at. Potential for appearance of pointless abuse best avoided.
