> I don't know the youth of today miss out on base 12, base 20, base 14, > 16, 256 - just boring old base 10 is all they have to look forward to. OCT 31 =3D DEC 25 (Halloween and New year) COFFEE =3D 12648430 10101 today, 10101 today, I've got the key of the door, never been 10101 before ... (Even I am not THAT old) There are 10 sorts of people, ... The Babylonians started all the 12 and 20 etc rubbish. Decided that 60 was a useful number to subdivide things from and away they = went. 2,3,4,5,6,10,12,20,30 not bad. 360 days in an original Babylonian year as well. Used to work well I'm told until Mars got in on the act. All ancient calendars used, I'm told , to have 360 days years until about BC xxx (some say xxx =3D 701) when orbital resonances finally setlled down. May even be true. I suspect not but it's a good story. Certainly stranger things have happened and do happen in the solar system.
