AutoCAD V1.0 was released December 1982, V2.17 would likely have been between May 1985 (V2.1 release) and June 1986 (V2.5 release). The IBM PC AT came out in 1984. PTC was founded in 1985 and the first release of their flagship product, Pro/Engineer, shipped in 1988.
