I think the information about the power measured at zero lead length is
useless. 

Why should one concern about it? What most people do is to know the maximum
power dissipation at the ambient temperature and use the component in the
circuit.

Showing a 3W zener diode that is actually .5W when you use it sounds like
false advertising.
