Took dormant mentating engine some seconds to decode RLH - not having noted it originally with explanation. RLH point taken in general context, but hardly appropriate in the case oft this finely honed piece of art. At least, not once wev'e had the documentation provided by this thread as a whole to explicate it, in principle if not in detail.. > Acceptability in terms of deficient pre-moderation does not > necessarily implicate deferred follow-up legal actions could not be > inevitably undertaken. > > (trying to imitate you know whose from NZ style :-) As I am invoked ... :-) I find Olin's comments entirely reasonable (sorry if that disappoints anyone :-) ). He's giving advice and it's about whether he considers some free code is worth the webpage its written on or not. As for whether his point of view is a valid one - that depends on your point of view :-). As already noted, I consider that there is a difference between "bad practice" and "bad code" but if one cannot or does not separate them as a matter of personal choice then that's fine too. Hopefully we will manage not to be so PC that a bit of opinion expression is unacceptable. We may :-). If this was a for money product (soft or hard ware) then acceptable treatment may be somewhat different. As it's 10+ year old undocumented code on an otherwise very nicely put together web page the test is somewhat less. Originator could have saved all this bother by adding a single leading comment line. viz: "Documentation of this marvel of compact optimised guru level wonder is left as an exercise for the student. Best solution submitted before June 1st 2027 gets a virtual beer, brand of one's choice".
