If this code really was written before the linker and relocatable mode, then
of course you had no choice.

Which is exactly why it needs to be particularly well documented.  Of course
you can do what you like on your own web page.  I was only advising others
to stay away from that code due to it poor documentation.

Note that this thread was a result of the OP not understanding the code.  If
it had been properly documented, we wouldn't be having this discussion.
