Not of my making. (Alas and/or I'm pleased to say).

Reading through the Godel Escher Bach page referenced will bring you
to it AND is arguably quite worthwhile as an introduction to what
people are up to in other fields..

My son is doing a Masters in philosophy and I sent it on to him as
being of obvious interest. I imagine that not all AI researchers are
as "weird" as Hofstadter needs to be to write such stuff, but someone
has to be to allow progress in understanding something as
ununderstandable as the human mind.

A SHRDLU conversation is spookily reminiscent of a session with Alex,
the (now dead,alas) African Grey Parrot whose level of understanding
seemed about the same.
