You must be kidding. I consider myself a sane developer (Olin would disagree because on PICs I prefer HLL to assembly, but that aside), but I am often forced to do something in/on the dos-on-windows command line. I don't want to learn yet another language for that purpose. For bash or one of its relatives I can find plenty of very readable documentation, from the authors or maintainers, both introductory/overview and reference style. I have never found such for cmd.exe. Yes, I have read the helps quite a few times. I might be biased, but I have good memories of VMS CLI. Very verbose commands, but easy to remember and natural to type. But they did do a very bad job on some details, for instance the input/output redirection. -- Wouter van Ooijen -- ------------------------------------------- Van Ooijen Technische Informatica: www.voti.nl consultancy, development, PICmicro products docent Hogeschool van Utrecht: www.voti.nl/hvu -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
