You must be joking, bro. Regardless of the quality of the docs, there always be a bozo complaining that the docs are not "for dummies" enough, or not "big picture" enough. That's none of their business to cook popular books on the technologies. Their business is to provide comprehensive reference sources for professionals. And they've been doing that quite well for decades. "For dummies" and "big picture" kind of books are very subjective, one that fits one mindset may not fit other. The amount of available "For dummies" and "big picture" MS-related resources is tremendous. Only C# books are hundreds, thousands of great on-line free resources. Your problem with cmd.exe is rather specific. Perhaps I'm wrong, but from my understanding since Process.Start Method from System.Diagnostics .Net Namespace has been available for the decade, any sane developer would prefer creating simple C# or VB.NET program with free MS Tools to wrap the functionality. Have a look at C# code, for example, in: Process.Start Method (ProcessStartInfo) http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/0w4h05yb%28VS.100%29.aspx With "RedirectStandardOutput =3D true" you could read the output with System.IO.StreamReader. > Their app documentation still sucks though. =A0Have > you ever tried to read thru the "manual" for Excell, > for example. =A0You can't really.=A0It's sometimes useful > for looking up specific things when you know what > to ask, but that all-important overview and intro is > apparently missing again. "all-important overview and intro" must be beyond the professional reference source, aren't you really getting it? -- = http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
