Estevan is the home of a huge open pit coal mine. From what we could see from the highway (9/11, Friday before and after), and recent aerial photos, there has been no effort on reclaiming the land. Contrast that with Southeast Ohio, where a huge area, maybe 400 sq. miles has been reclaimed. It is South of I-70, and West of I-77, and home of "The Wilds", and African Wildlife preserve, among other things.
