Hi Lucas, hope things are good in Brazil! Anyway I don't see that Microchip would have made the C-compiler free. If I have understood right the optimization is turned off after evaluation period. Is this right? If so does it really mean something for a hobbyist entering PIC-field? Last time I looked the Hi-tech compiler was something about $1000. So I won't order it in a blink of an eye. I think Microchip is making a mistake. Their main business should be selling silicon and free good compiler would not exactly hurt that. Again if I have understood right the AVR side have a lot of good and free compilers and tools. That's a good policy. I would love to find a development environment for PIC that would run on Linux. Is there any? I am in no hurry I have another project that takes about two months full time so PIC side of things have to wait. I am just keeping my eyes open what is happening.
