This, however, can be remedied "at a later date."  Maybe.  TI's USB/ 
Serial controller still doesn't play well with anything but windows,  
as far as I can tell.

(I really don't understand.  How expensive can it be to hire one each  
of Mac and Linux hacker to get other drivers written?)
