Or am I in some special feedback hell ? I'm one of those buyers who sometimes takes a week or two to pay for my items. However, I always try to let the seller know what's happening and to get their OK. For me, the usual reason to hold off payment is because the seller has other items available but the auctions don't end of for several days (up to 10 days). Sellers are generally pretty good about waiting because they get charged a base fee everytime they receive a PayPal payment. It costs them less in fees if I make only a single payment instead of several. I'm in Canada and most of my purchases are from US sellers. Shipping costs are a real problem and I try to minimize those costs by having sellers send as many items in a single package as possible. That often means that I have un-paid auctions stretching out to 10 or 12 days. Again - I always try to ensure that the seller is OK with that delay before it actually occurs. >2) eBay calculated the cost to ship the item I sold at $9.97. When I >showed up at UPS to ship the item , I was charged $16.00. Do those of >you on the list who use eBay run into this problem ? I'm on the opposite side of the shipping equation - I'm most usually the buyer. However, I always tell the people who sell to me that I will cover all shipping costs. I do that because many first-time sellers who live in the US are afraid of getting hosed in dealing with ship costs to Canada. If they charge too little, they lose money. If they charge too much (and don't then refund the excess), they get dinged when the buyer complains to eBay or leaves bad feedback. I try to help sellers with those issues. That just makes it easier all around. I check the postage cost on every package that I receive. If the seller has charged me way more than the actual postage cost, I quiz them about it and try to get a refund. Sometimes there is a legitimate reason for the extra cost - no problem as long as I am told about it. If not, I give them low ratings for the ship cost part of their feedback rating. Conversely, if I see that the actual ship cost was greater than what I was charged, I talk to the seller about that as well. I usually wind up sending them the difference plus a bit to cover PayPal fees. I may not have answered all of your questions but I hope this helps you see the situation from the buyer's end. dwayne -- Dwayne Reid Trinity Electronics Systems Ltd Edmonton, AB, CANADA (780) 489-3199 voice (780) 487-6397 fax www.trinity-electronics.com Custom Electronics Design and Manufacturing -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
