Perhaps the more experienced can help me please. I am using a Keymaster Software programmer (series VI, revision 3) to program my 16c84. This programmer is not very well known and I can't find much about it on the net. I know these chips are a bit old now but they are working ok and I have a few of them. The programmer will also program 16f84. The programmer has a ZIF socket and a card slot for a satellite card, in fact, I think that is what it was originally used for. Anyway, my 16c84 programming has gone well and I've got a few projects up-and-running. Now I need an analogue to digital sensor for a charging circuit that I'm working on. Once again, I have several older PICs, this time the 16c71 which has four ADC channels. I know it has been superseded by the 16c711 but I would like to use the 16c71 if possible. Now, do I need a different programmer or can I use the Keymaster (which works fine using the win95 software under Wine in Linux)? It looks to me like the two chips are pin-for-pin the same except when the 16c71 is being used for analogue measurements. I'm tempted just to try it and see if it works but caution is probably best as I don't want to destroy anything! Does anyone know the answer please?
