I would love to come over. Here in Sweden we have > had one of the coldest winter for the last 100 years and it seems to not be > over yet. I wonder if that is also due to the climat change. You can always be sure that Climate Changes :-). It MAY be the coldest in 100 yeas, but 301 years ago there was a winter that made your one now look warm. 1709 in Europe, so cold that many animals died in barns and in the wild, surviving fowl had their combs drop off, trees split, crops almost all died. Grapes gave no wine at all. Many people froze to death in their beds. Interestingly, the years that are recorded as very cold in some places don't necessarily match the years that the Thames froze in London. But, the heat is in Hong Kong :-) - and no doubt in many other tropical places. In early February (just past mid winter) it was typically as warm in HK as it was in NZ at the same time (just past mid summer). I wore shirt sleeves even late at night. Locals tended to add a layer of clothing. 2 hours flight and 1000 km North in Ningbo it was bitterly cold, more so than in northern NZ in winter at any stage BUT Ningbo is far closer to the equator than my city is. Ocean currents have amajor effect on temperatures. UK translated into our hemisphere would lie wholly to deep south of my country. It SHOULD be always frozen around the UK in winter, BUT the gulf stream keeps it "warm" and ice free. So far :-). The biggest thing we know about climate is that we know very little about climate! (But, some people don't know we know that). I'm very much in favour of us all knowing far more than we do now.
