Hi there, Bob. The author says that version 2.x *will* be open-source. He apparently used some proprietary bits in the version 2.0 firmware and those bits with either go away or become open-source (he doesn't say which). I have one of these - I ordered it near the beginning of December and received it 3 or 4 weeks after placing my order. It does indeed work. I find that the version 2.0 firmware to be less useful than the 1.x firware that the scope shipped with - version 2.0 adds something called "transparency" which I find less than useful. Its intended to mimic a phosphor CRT, where a fast signal is less intense than a slow signal. I'm actually using firmware submitted by someone called "Frank" (search the DSOnano forums) and it is actually quite useable. I never did see source for that firmware, though. Hope this helps! dwayne At 12:17 PM 3/2/2010, Bob Ammerman wrote: >I got a bit excited by this only to find that version 2.0 of the firmware is >no longer open source. > >-- Bob Ammerman >RAm Systems -- Dwayne Reid Trinity Electronics Systems Ltd Edmonton, AB, CANADA (780) 489-3199 voice (780) 487-6397 fax www.trinity-electronics.com Custom Electronics Design and Manufacturing -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
