Yes it does as well as Kindles native format (AZW), unprotected MOBI,
PRC, PDF, HTML, DOC, JPEG, GIF and MP3 and Audible (AAX) for audio
books.

That was a bad example as you obviously wouldn't gain much from
converting.  But converting from a Word document etc. would be useful.
