The problem with the 74LS14 (and also the no-letter 7414) is that
although it can sink up to 16mA at logic level 0, it can source less
than 1mA at logic level 1, and may not be suitable for the needs of the
OP's circuit (unless he is using PNP or P-Channel transistors after the IC).

The 74ACT14 has much higher drive capability, is not obsolete, is much
cheaper and consumes much less quiescent power. The only possible
problem is the CMOS voltage levels.
