Although Inkscape's native format is svg (which is rapidly beccoming more
popular), it can "Save As" eps, wmf, hpgl and xaml, all of which Word will
eat, as well as dozens of other formats.

However, I suppose "Save As" is too many clicks
  File
    Save As
      Select Format

        OK

Not one button, but not bad.
