I've checked the archives, and Googled the subject, but I cannot find a good example of ASM code and circuit for dimming the backlight on a 1602 LCD. I know people have done it via PWM, but could use some good detailed info on how. I also see there is an article in the archives on how to control the contrast that uses negative voltages. Is that really necessary? Wouldn't a voltage 0-5V be all that is needed for that? I'm using the PIC18F4520.
