> Expects... Nobody expects the...um...the Spanish...um... =A0 :-) I think you understand my point :-). Additional "hard and fast" rules were asked for that people would then follow closely. That is always conceivable but seems to be asking for an additonal burden that could, I'd have thought, been better handled by 'turn the other cheek' / 'go the second mile' / ' if anyone asks you for your coat ... ' type responses. Maybe not. Re the Spanish um ... . I don't recall being taught about Christopher Columbus at school (although I probably was) BUT I have always recalled when Christopher Columbus set sail because of a rhyme passed down from my parents school years. "In sixteen hundred and forty two, Columbus sailed the ocean blu= e". It was only quite recently that I came to realise WHY Columbus set sail when he did. Even I understand, the exact date of his expedition's departure was set by events quite unrelated to what we remember him for. Not just the Spanish, but much of Christendom were part of this rolling event. Pretty sobering in this age, our many other shortcomings notwithstanding. Russell PS: It would be very very very easy to turn the above into a religious or political brawl. It should also be possible, should anyone care to, to discuss it rationally and reasonably while staying away from religion and politics. -- = http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
