I don't remember all the horn honking that Russell tells of, when we were in China, but that was a dozen years ago now ... But when travelling in Italy, someone I knew reckoned that if someone honked angrily at you, the best thing to do was stop and wave the other person on. Apparently Italian folk cannot have someone else being more polite than them, so they stop and wave you on.
