I don't use triacs a lot, and then usually something like a BT138 (12A
600V), which is MT1, MT2 (tab), Gate.

I recall problems with MT1 to live. Didn't pass current I think. Now I
always have MT2 to live. Just used a BT138 to control a small 60W
Breville motor (+ snubber) and light bulb, like this
