Ended up using PERL scripts with MySQL as DB. For small volume it makes sense to use PayPal for all transactions, including CC. In addition to handling transaction, they have decent merchant tools (e.g. invoice, shipping). If you like website beaglerobotics.com, I can send you Perl script for it, contact me off list. It is simple, but easy to maintain/modify. For hosting I recommend lunarpages.com - fast support response, good uptime, decent prices. BTW, I needded support only when I was setting up new websites, I now have 4 websites with them, including my persoanla email hosting.
