Look at google checkout. I haven't used it as a seller yet, but I will
if I get an actual product to sell. Most of the Paypal horror stories
came before they were owned by ebay however.

I've used oscommerce but unless it works out of the box for you, the
code is pretty messy and hard to modify. It probably needs a total
rewrite.
