My current method is tweezers/iron. Yep, I also drop the components on a piece of paper, but once I use all the right-side-up parts, I tap the paper gently to flip some over and use those, etc, etc. A non-new (slightly dog-eared etc) piece of paper is essential here. Flipping by tapping is much faster than flipping individually with tweezers. Now, I have a decent reflow oven, and while I work on getting a PnP machine, I want to see how much better vacuum pickup is. Picking up 0805's seems faster, but most of my parts are 0603's. I don't plan to stick the tape down, but machine a reel holder similar to this... ebay item # 260517786764 . I was looking at an APS doc comparing the benefits of their Manual PnP system against vacuum pickup and tweezers. They claim 75-125cph f/tweezers, 100-150cph f/vacuum pencil, and 400-600 f/manual PnP. I get 240cph with tweezers, so curious how much vacuum would get me. And if faster than tweezers, I can use it to place approx 3000 components by next week, most of which are 0603's. =8-O Cheers, -Neil. -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
