>From Christchurch, NZ I pay about $NZ330 a month - $US250? Unit cost is about $US0.16 with a night rate of half that. In addition I pay about $0.80 a day line charge. Plus 12.5% GST on all the above. It is possible to sign up to "Powershop" where I can buy units in advance at spot prices - down to about $US0.10 per unit. No night rate and no line charge. Tempting, but you really have to be lucky or do nothing else to get the good spot rates. Otherwise you pay slightly more. Water is included in the rates and not charged by usage - although I heard of someone recently who had a leak and was close to some sort of threshold where the council was going to start charging him.
