I run a couple lists on yahoogroups. For spam control, I moderate all new members. Once I see they are on topic, I unmoderate them. A recent spammer put the spam in the calendar so it would be sent every day from here on out. So, I disallowed anyone using the calendar. I also disallowed all other features except for the mailing list, again keeping new members moderated. One particular list has had a very persistent spammer in India.
