>> Unfortunately we do not have big roofs here. In bigger cities like >> Singapore (or Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, etc), majority of >> the people live in high-rise buildings. So even if you put Solar >> panels all over the roofs, it probably is not good enough. ;-) Many buildings in a cross section of Chinese cities are adorned with thermal solar panels - high rise buildings in many cases have the roof almost covered, suggesting that they may pipe the heat down some distance. Photovoltaic panels are far less common on residences. Some department stores have sections that may sell 20+ types and sizes of thermal solar panels and associated tankage - all full size and on display. I have a number of photos both of roof top installations and of department store displays. Hint: When a panel has a long almost horizontal bracing wire running across afactory roof at about 400mm above the roof, try hard to rememebr it is there every time you access the roof. Also, try not to run enthusiastically across the roof while forgetting that the wire is there. Just about shin height. Very painful. Several times !!! :-). (I had a large number of solar torches laid out on the flat roof for testing). Why I would run so enthusiastically, or forget so repeatedly, I do not know.
