I went through the whole PCB/Schematic selection a couple of years back, and ended up with DipTrace (http://www.diptrace.com). Easy to use, and relatively inexpensive. I'm not sure what your design size is, but there are several versions starting at free (250 pins, non-commercial use) They just released a new shape-based autorouter which has me re-thinking my desire to manually route a lot of my boards.
