The two HDTVs i've tried so far have made pretty poor computer monitors.

The 19 inch toshiba one didn't seem to like PC resoloutions on it's HDMI 
port and only seemed to like 1024x768 (despite being a widescreen TV) on 
it's VGA port.

The 28 inch hanspree one was better in this regard but was very blurry 
at the suppliers claimed native resoloution of 1920x1200 and better but 
still not brilliant at 1680x1050. The blurriness was even worse when VGA 
rather than HDMI was used. This set also seems to have an annoying 
buzzing noise on it's PC audio in.

My parents are planning to buy a 27 inch LG soon which according to LG 
is supposed to be a monitor/TV combo, if they end up getting it i'll 
report back on whether it is any good or not.
