I don't recall having any problems before I donated mine to my inlaws,  
but that might have been before XP.

It's an "old style" printer; all you should really need to do is send  
it a postscript or HPGL data stream over the appropriate connection;  
no fancy windows involvement should be needed.  If all else fails,  
look for a generic postscript/HPGL driver.
