I want to thank all of you who answered my query.  Some of you did not  
seem to read my original posting.  I get a lot fun and information out  
of all of the responses.

I wanted to reiterate that since my "official" BlackBerry charger is  
not likely to have any smarts in it and because the Kensington charger  
would not even know what a BlackBerry is ; and because both of these  
chargers work to recharge my BB battery ;  there must be something  
very simple and different about those two chargers.  I have tried two  
or three other USB chargers plus my DIY charger and they do not work.
