Greeting Bob, It is a pity to see you going back to Vonage, let us know how do you like it? I agree, the magicJack customer service is poor, though they are improving it slowly. Due to the low price, the device shell is not built with metal case/high quality material which can withstand heavy duty usage or withstand harsh environment, it can be easily damaged if someone drop it or step over it. And due to its low cost, the magicJack company might not be interested in replacing or fixing broken ones at all. Not mention, the USB cable comes in the package is low quality too. Experiences show the usb cable in the package won't last very long. That's why we normally recommend people use/renew magicjack year by year instead of prepay for 5 years, just in case the device got broken or lost (I am not sure if you can close your account and get refund.). The device is so small, people may easily lose it. Other than a few cons, it does have pros, such as: good voice quality, good portability, low price, etc. If you travel a lot, you will like it. For residential use, maybe Vonage is a good choice too, but they are not in the same price range. Here is the compare between magicjack and Vonage: http://www.auelectronics.com/forum/index.php/topic,5.msg187.html#msg187 Funny N. The amount of bandwidth used is quite high, and the sound quality is somewhat meager. I think I'll go back to Vonage. --bob On Wed, Dec 2, 2009 at 10:09 AM, Funny NYPD wrote: > Since November 19, 2009, magicJack now offers Canadian phone number (price for Canadian phone number is US$29.95/year, vs. US$ 19.95/year for US phone number), > > Here is a list of Canadian Area Codes > (Updated November 19, 2009) > > Status Location Code > Available Manitoba - Winnipeg 204 > Available Ontario - Hamilton 905 > Available Ontario - London 226 > Available Ontario - Niagara Falls 289 > Available Ontario - Ottawa 613 > Available Ontario - Toronto 416 > Available Ontario - Windsor 519 > Available Quebec - Montreal 514 > Available Quebec - Quebec City 418 > > For more info, please refer to our forum: > http://www.auelectronics.com/forum/index.php/topic,5.msg185.html#msg185 > > Funny N. > Au Group Electronics, http://www.AuElectronics.com > http://www.AuElectronics.com/products > http://augroups.blogspot.com/ > > > > > -- > http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive > View/change your membership options at > http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist > -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
