Some printers that can be used with this technique allow printing directly on CDs (usually with some sort of cradle), so you can just stuff your PCB into that rather than doing any mods; that guy may have modified his though, I don't know. I've seen this technique done by pre-etching the PCB (couple of seconds in FeCl) to rough up the PCB so the ink adheres, but that guy just roughed it up with sandpaper, which seems much better (less mess). Might be worth a try sometime; seems much quicker/less elbow grease than toner transfer.
