AFAIK this happen also when the software is crashed or anyway closed as 
minimized and "something" goes awry :)

I usually do ALT-SPACE on the program, try moving NSEW and usually it 
reappears. Then ALT-SPACE again and you can resize a bit, enough to use 
the mouse..
