Tamas, in the episode of Crash Investigation Unit I saw the other night,
the CIU team said that ABS would have prevented the start of the crash
sequence, although subsequent to that the car was skidding sideways on
grass and heading straight to the scene of the accident no matter what. A
driver in the middle lane caused the driver in the outside lane to swerve
and put two wheels on the grass verge. He instinctively braked heavily
and tried to correct, causing the back end to come around because not all
wheels had the same traction on the mix of grass, asphalt and gravel.
Eventually the car was completely on the grass and out of control. It hit
the end of an Armco barrier, which went in through the rear right passenger
door and out the left front passenger door, with predictable consequences
